We believe that the maritime sector is very competitive and over regulated. For shipping companies to survive and thrive , they need operations manuals which are interconnected with their operations improving performance , minimizing errors , protecting their investment and the environment
About the company
Seatrix is the brain child of Costantinos Galanakis.
Back in 2001 when he finished his studies, he joined his father ,crew management company which was founded in 1977. While trying to understand how an operation is been run and the intricacies of the shipping sector , it was quite obvious from the start that people were playing a significant role in the operation and profitability of the company.
Being a visionary he anticipated that the future will bring more regulations to the shipping sector, thus complicate the daily operations. He got actively involved on the daily operations in order to understand all the minor details that make a business run. He noticed that in almost on all aspects of the job, people were spending a lot of time doing repetitive jobs and even duplicating jobs of other people , due to the lack of proper documentation and the lack of a common data system. He then set a goal to interconnect the HQ with the branch offices with a commonly used tool, in order to share information between people who had different culture and different languages.
He started slowly inserting all the data gathered from various business sources having in mind that acquiring data is necessary goal but not the end. He then started converting data to information and the information was then given to the management for proper decision making.
Gradually he incorporated the know-how of the previous generations into the evolving system, thus enabling young people performing duties that previously required a lot of experience and knowledge. This was a revelation due to the fact that the system was not eliminating the human factor but rather was eliminating the human errors and providing instant knowledge to people who didn’t necessarily had years of experience.
